When eating, we don’t just eat anything but eat the right and balance food. It is important to know the quantities to be consumed. For major imbalances in macronutrients can increase the risk of chronic disease.

So, what is macronutrient? Why is it important to know and what can we benefit from it?

We as humans have three classes of macronutrients – carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Learn more about these in the infographic below. The infographic explains how to eat the right ratio of macronutrients.

Carbs are the main source of energy for our bodies. One gram of carbohydrate provides 4 calories or 17 kilojoules. When comes to proteins, macronutrients targets for people looking to maintain lean muscle whilst cutting, or to build lean muscle mass are slightly different. Following a balanced diet that contains carbs, protein and fat in the right proportions should give you all the nutrients you need.
