Coffee is a delicious beverage that comes in many different varieties, and the type of coffee you choose matters. Depending on your preference, the roast of your coffee can make all the difference! From green beans to light, medium, and dark roasts, there’s something for everyone. Let’s explore the different types of coffee roasts.

Green Beans are unroasted beans and are often sold as raw or unroasted coffee beans. The flavor is mild and much less bitter than roasted beans. Light Roasts have a light brown color with no oil on the surface of the bean. The flavor of these roasts is usually acidic with some sweetness and no bitterness. Examples include Cinnamon Roast, which is a light roast that has a sweet finish reminiscent of cinnamon; and New England Roast, which has subtle hints of chocolate and nuts.

Light Roasts are usually roasted for a shorter amount of time than other types of roasts, resulting in a lighter color with more caffeine remaining in the beans. Cinnamon Roast is one example; it has a delicate flavor with hints of cinnamon and is often used for home brewing because its flavor remains intact over time without becoming bitter. New England Roast is also light but has more body and sweetness than the Cinnamon variety, making it great for espresso drinks and cappuccinos.

Medium Roasts have a medium brown color with some oil on the surface of the bean. The flavor is balanced between sweet and acidic, with just a hint of bitterness. Examples include American Roast, which has a mild flavor that balances sweetness with acidity; and City Roast, which has an intense flavor that’s bold but not bitter.

Dark Roasts have a deep blackish-brown color with shiny surfaces due to their high oil content. These roasts are full-bodied with low acidity but intense bitterness. Examples include Full City Roast, which has an intense smoky taste; Vienna Roast which has notes of chocolate; French Roast which has notes of caramelized sugar; and Italian Roast which has notes of bittersweet cocoa powder.

Whether you prefer light or dark roasts there’s something for everyone when it comes to coffee! With so many different types and flavors available you can easily find one that suits your taste buds perfectly – from green beans all the way to Italian roasts!
