This infographic presents the statistics of heroin abuse in the United States. It shows some critical stats including the facts that the most rapid growth of heroin use is in young adults, injections from drug use account for 53% of Hepatitis C infections, the doubled number of heroin users from 2002 to 2012, and other critical data.

As stated in the infographic, it is estimated that 150,000 emergency room visits each year are due to heroin use, equaling about 14% of all ER visits. Unfortunately, heroin abuse doubled from 214,000 in 2002 to 467,000 in 2012. As for smokers, more than 90% of people with addiction began smoking, drinking or using other drugs before age 18.
