Two weeks after the Olympic Games came to a conclusion, athletes with disabilities got their moment to shine at the Paralympics, an event in which achievement against all odds is fulfilled and so many dreams are realized. It has come a long way since its foundations in the middle of the 20th century, the Games now featuring 4,350 athletes from more than 170 countries.

From the 7th to the 18th of September, the 15th Paralympic Games took place in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro. Find out more about the world’s largest sporting event for people with physical disabilities, an event where dreams are realized for many courageous athletes.

It is interesting that the mascot for the 2016 Paralympics was Tom, who is officially described as a „fusion of plants found in Brazilian forests.”
