In the 1960s, facing the universal challenge of family boredom, friends Joel Pritchard and Bill Bell ingeniously birthed pickleball from household items.

With table tennis paddles and a plastic ball, they adapted rules, lowering the net to create a fusion of badminton, ping pong, and tennis. This improvised game laid the groundwork for pickleball’s global acclaim. The first official court emerged two years later in Bob O’Brian’s backyard, leading to the formation of Pickle Ball, Inc.

Pickleball’s trajectory included media attention, tournaments, and recognition in senior games, ultimately becoming the fastest-growing US sport, attracting over 36 million enthusiasts and anticipating continued growth in 2023.
