In the world we live in today, hardly a day goes by without a break-in incident being reported to the authorities. A survey done to investigate what burglars look for when targeting houses shed some light on the matter.

Convicted burglars indicated that accessibility of a house, the type of security in place or a lack of it, were the main driving factors for them to target a house. The survey further indicated that 2 out of every 3 burglars gained access to target houses through unlocked doors and windows.

Before burglars target a house, they will look for signs of valuable goods so that they know what to aim for. They will also look for houses and neighborhoods that are unoccupied and strike when there are few or no people around. The research further indicated that burglars will target houses which are near where they live.
