One of the most important decisions a parent can make is whether or not to vaccinate their child. From simple shots like Polio and Tetanus, to the controversial Measles/Mumps/Rubella vaccine, more parents are putting off or opting-out of vaccines completely.
Online Masters in Public Health has created an infographic entitled “Refusing Protection: The Decline of Childhood Vaccination in the U.S.” detailing the statistics behind the decrease in vaccinations, along with easy-to-read graphs showing increasing incidence of vaccine-preventable diseases.
This infographic provides statistics related to the decline of childhood vaccinations in the U.S. According to the infographic, nearly 1 in 4 children aged 19-35 have not received all recommended vaccinations. Most distressingly, some of the diseases most dangerous to young children are seeing vaccination rates fall. Besides, vaccinations prevented more than 3 million deaths every year.
